Blizzard Bucks Down: Heckman’s Pronghorn Hunt

Opening day got skunked, day two brought a blizzard, and somehow that’s when Walker Heckman’s Montana pronghorn season turned into a highlight reel — he and his brother Cade spot a nice group of antelope in the snow on the first spot they check, put a stalk on them through the hills, and it all nearly goes sideways at the end before Walker scrambles up the hill and drops a buck that rough-scores 80 2/8 and tops off his doe tag because, hey, the tag was already in his pocket.

Between the sideways snow, the near-miss chaos, and two goats on the ground before lunch.

If you’re wondering what antelope hunting in Montana can be like, here is an example from Walker Heckman’s hunt this month!
