If your autumn plans involve chasing game around Lincoln, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has a quick heads-up before you pack the truck. Sieben Ranch Company is rolling out updated ground rules across two popular Block Management Areas (BMAs), so you will want to adjust your routine before heading into the backcountry.
Horsefly Creek: Call In Early, Sleep Somewhere Else
Scored your eye on Horsefly Creek this fall? Do not expect to just show up at the access gate. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks notes that “Horsefly Creek BMA requires written permission, awarded through a limited reservation system.”
Securing a spot means getting on the phone right away. Sieben Ranch and Cathy Baucus are taking reservations at 406-442-2228 from Wednesday, August 26 through Friday, August 28, strictly between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Pitching a tent nearby is off the table too, as “this area does not allow camping for the 2026 season.” Plan to commute in from elsewhere each morning.
Keep Cool Hills: Fresh Parking Rules & Camp Limits
Over at Keep Cool Hills, access is a bit more flexible, but the parking setup has seen an overhaul. Officials emphasize that “hunters must park only in newly designated areas, marked on-site and on the property map.” If you plan to set up camp, keep your stay brief—camping is capped at three days within any 21-day window.
