Montana Fishing Report – November 15th

Nov-15-25 by Kamp Cook

It’s cold, quiet, and pretty great if you’re still fishing. With hunters filling the mountains, there’s almost no pressure on the rivers. The Yellowstone, Madison, and Missouri are all producing nice rainbows and post-spawn browns on streamers and nymphs. Water temps are dropping fast, so mid-day has been the best window.

Fort Peck and Canyon Ferry are transitioning into winter mode, but anglers are still finding walleye and trout near deeper structure. Jigging spoons and slow retrieves are working best. Smaller lakes and ponds are cooling quickly, and a few are even starting to see early morning ice along the edges.

Dress warm, move slow, and you’ll have the river all to yourself. Late fall in Montana might not be comfortable, but it’s some of the best solitude you’ll find all year.
