The Milk River Project has transitioned from concrete work to significant steel installation, as crews prepare to install radial gates at the St. Mary Diversion Dam in Montana. These gates will manage river flow, marking an important development in the project as it progresses into September.

Montana FWP has added a proposal to convert Thompson Island into a public fishing access site to the Oct. 15 Fish and Wildlife Commission agenda. The state would acquire a 32-acre island and access easement. Other discussion topics include fishing regulations, grizzly bear releases, and public use fees. Comments are due by Sept. 24.
