About this tournament
Now in its 26th year, the Glasgow Women’s Fishing Tournament is a Fort Peck institution. The event is open to teams of two women anglers and fishes Fort Peck Reservoir from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Walleye is the primary species, but northern pike and bass are also typically eligible per tournament rules.
The tournament is hosted by the Walleyes Unlimited of Montana — Glasgow/Fort Peck chapter, the same organization behind the Fort Peck Circuit of walleye tournaments. The event has long been one of the most welcoming on the Fort Peck calendar, drawing repeat teams from across Montana, North Dakota, and beyond. Many teams build the weekend around the tournament with a Friday-night rules meeting at the Fort Peck Hotel and a Saturday afternoon awards ceremony after weigh-in.
With a modest entry fee, family-friendly format, and one of Montana’s best walleye fisheries underfoot, the women’s tournament is a great introduction to competitive walleye fishing.

What to expect
Mid-July walleye on Fort Peck are typically out on main-lake structure — points, humps, and the edges of major bays in 20 to 40 feet of water. Classic Fort Peck presentations include bottom bouncers tipped with crawler harnesses, trolling crankbaits along contour lines, and slow-death rigs near schools of suspended bait. With an 8-hour day, planning two or three reliable spots and adjusting to wind direction is key.
History
The Women’s Fishing Tournament has been a Fort Peck staple since 2001 and is the longest-running women-only walleye tournament in Montana. It pre-dates several of the larger Fort Peck events and helped establish the lake as a destination for the women’s circuit.
