Koocanusa fishing well in the Montana Fishing Report

NORTHWEST MONTANA FISHING REPORT

Chancy at Snappy’s in Kalispell says the lakes are starting to open up. Echo Lake been slow going for Kokanee and bass, Lake Blane is open but no reports while the water’s a bit low and tough to get a boat in. Smith Lake few guys trying for pike, Whitefish Lake is open no reports on fishing yet though. Koocanusa (shown in the picture above) has been fishing well out by Rexford for 9-11 inch kokanee. Bitterroot Lake still froze, but not recommended for ice fishing. Ashley Lake has had reports of a few guys getting out there as well, but again not recommended. The Thompson Chain of Lakes Middle, Lower, Upper is opening up but not quite fishable from a boat yet.

NORTH CENTRAL MONTANA FISHING REPORT

Leonard says the river is producing good down by Maroni Dam for sturgin and catfish. Holter Reserervoir is doing well on trout. Willow Creek & Nilan are still producing trout on egg sacks, marshmallows, and night crawlers. There’s been no report on Bynum. Crank bait on Lake Francis. Tiber doing well on minnows.
