Hi, it’s Angie from Bob Ward & Sons, & if you can avoid the fall WINDS, you got some great days of fishing in the HELENA area!

The MISSOURI ‘s got a sparkling Baetis Hatch going on, so go SMALL, with attractor patterns in the size 18-20 range…mid-day is the HOT time, both in terms of warmest sun & best swarms…but stay out of the wind! Nymphing is stron, just choose an Emerger like the Bat Wing OR the Short Wing PMD…but if you want bigger fish to fry, Streamers have been MOST excellent! Get your Zonkers, Jawbreakers, Double Bunnies, or Minnow imitations IN ACTION on the MO, tie your sink tips on, & go for it. We’re hearing success stories all over with Streamers, & since it looks like some overcast in the weather in the next week, all the better!

Get your Walleye game on in the large reservoirs, or even on the MO…try a good bottom-bouncer at about 35-45 ft, or feed ’em a big juicy worm! East side of CANYON FERRY has gotten great Walleye reports, at about a 40 ft depth. Go down around 50 on CANYON FERRY & it’s Perch-catching, all the way! Double down on your Streamer use…we still swear by that Black & Copper Zonker in a sz 2…w/ a beadhead dropper!

Time to grab your 2012 Hunting Regulations at Bob Wards in HELENA & read up! Rifle Hunting opens the 20th, & naturally we HAVE IT ALL at the store for YOUR first weekend out. Sneak a peek at the new ICE FISHING gear that is landing in the stores as I speak…new shelters, ice rods, jigs & plenty of warm technical clothing so you don’t have to stop your sporting ways for a MINUTE, no matter what season! We’re back in a week with what’s the haps on the WATER or in the WOODS…join us!
