Wolf Trapping Certification Class Scheduled for Miles City

MILES CITY, Mont.– Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has scheduled a wolf trapping certification class for Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Miles City. This will be the only class offered in Region 7 this year.

The class will be held in the conference room at the Bureau of Land Management, 111 Garry Own Road. Class size is limited to 25 students and will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Certification and a trapping license are mandatory for anyone planning to trap wolves in Montana. To participate in the wolf trapper certification class, potential trappers must register online through the FWP website, www.fwp.mt.gov (look under the Education tab, then click “Wolf Trapping Education”).

Classes are offered at other locations across the state; details on these and other classes can be found online. Students must attend the entire class session to be certified.

Montana’s wolf trapping season runs from Dec. 15 to Feb. 28, 2014. Wolf hunting season starts Sept. 7 for archers in some backcountry districts and ends March15, 2014.
