There are mountain lions all over the Bitterroot valley, and Darby is home to quite a few of them.
This particular mountain lion was caught on Jerry R.’s game camera in Darby after he spotted a dead buck covered up by pine needles. He immediately recognized that it was a mountain lion’s work and ran home to grab his game camera. He got the camera set up and left for the night. The next day, when he checked the pictures, the cat had come back not even 15 minutes after he had set the camera up and left the kill. It makes you wonder if the cat was watching him while he was setting up the camera.
