According to a recent article posted on wired2fish.com, Melvin McDonald, of Glendive, may have broken Montana’s state record for smallmouth bass on Friday, August 30th at Fort Peck Reservoir. The monster bass weighed in at a whipping 6.7 pounds and was 22.5 inches long. He was apparently using a Berkley Gulp! Minnow while bottom bouncing for walleyes.
We will let you know if the fish is officially approved as the new current state record smallmouth bass when we hear the final word!
