Stories of the big one that got away abound this time of year. A couple of weeks ago hunter Travis Post from Hamilton, Montana found the remains of an 8 x 8 bull elk with a gross score of 393 6/8 and a net score of 369 6/8 while hunting in the Bitterroot Valley.  The bull appeared to have died of natural causes over a year ago. Post plans to submit the antlers to the Boone and Crockett Club after the mandatory 60 day drying period.
