Montana’s wolf harvest season is more than half way over, with wolf trapping closing on February 28th and wolf hunting ending on March 15th. I recently visited an area in Montana where three trappers brought home three wolves in three days. Two of the trappers were trapping together and were pleasantly surprised to find their traps sprung and holding exactly what they were after–wolves. The remaining trapper did a trap check and also found a wolf looking back at him that had stepped in the trap and managed to walk around a tree, thinking he was stuck but not realizing all he had to do was walk around the tree in the opposite direction to become unstuck. Congratulations to all of the trappers and hunters who have found success while trapping and hunting wolves. That is not an easy task to accomplish.
