The fire that started as a small 2 acre fire on Tuesday has now grown to 4,000 acres.  The Reynold’s Creek fire has destroyed one historic structure known as the Sun Camp Fireguard Cabin and has also burned a vehicle left by tourists.  The fire is burning through the heavy timber and is about 10 miles from St Mary’s Visitors Center.  Evacuations around the area are continuing to happen as the blaze spreads.  Some officials say that with no weather relief, this fire could continue to burn until fire season comes to a close in the fall.  It is still unknown what started this fire.

Park Closures Include:

Gunsight Pass Trail, Highline Trail from Granite Park Chalet to Logan Pass, Red Eagle Trial, Pegan Pass Trail, and all trails originating on the Sun Road in closed areas.
