One thing to be on the lookout for while you’re hunting big game animals and predators, shore fishing, harvesting firewood or setting up and checking your trapline are sheds. There are some absolutely amazing sheds out there. Whether you’re walking in the mountains or in a huge field, keep your eyes open!
Bitterrooter Coral Maxwell (pictured below) refers to the elk sheds and the moose paddle she found while out and about in late July as a “hiking reward”. I have to say that is an excellent way to look at it, and that is one awesome award, for sure!
To date, I have still only found one shed in my life (the featured image). It was just a little three-point muley shed, but it was just as exciting to me as a successful hunt, steelhead fishing cast or trapping adventure. So, just keep your eyes open, as you just never know what you will find….as long as you’re looking!
