I, personally, don’t use bait for my conibear sets while trapping rats, but I do, however, use bait for my pole sets. Rather than buying carrots or potatoes to put on the end of my pole sets now, I am going to give this method a try and see if it works the same on a pole set. It might not work, though, because the location of the flag is not where a root typically would be, being out of water, but who knows. Have you tried this before for rats, and did you have success?
