This week, the University of Texas President approved the decision to allow students to carry concealed handguns on campus. UT is not the first state school to adopt this policy. Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Utah, Wisconsin and Oregon all allow their students to carry concealed handguns on campus. Certain issues among the UT staff members have included interference with free speech rights. Knowing that there are concealed weapons in the classroom when tense conversations and issues are being discussed is unsettling to some.
