David Fetveit is a Lakeside Realtor and  member of the West Shore Visitors Bureau, whom put on the Skijoring event held in Lakeside this weekend.  The event was a giant success with 30 sponsors and about $35,000 in prize money, which drew a lot of competitors, 150, and a large crowd.  The largest prize was about $6,000 for the winner of the top category.  The event was held Saturday and Sunday at the Lakeside Club’s private airstrip, and boasted the sport’s biggest purse ever!

Skijoring combines a jockey, horse and ski racer being pulled through a slalom course made up of turns, bumps and jumps.  The skiers go back and forth while maneuvering gates, going off jumps, and collecting rings along the way.  Fastest time completing all obstacles wins.  It is a fantastic spectator sport, which is why so many came out to watch over the weekend.  Event security even had to turn away some spectators on Saturday as the crowd grew too large for the facility.
