Hunting:  2017 Montana Resident Deer and Elk Permit Applications are due March 15th so swing on in and grab your application before you’re out of time.  Spring Bear and Turkey are still a month out with Bear opening April 15th and Turkey on April 8th.

Fishing: IT IS A NEW LICENSE YEAR FOR FISHING-So swing on into Bob Wards for your 2017 Fishing license.

Canyon Ferry: Ice around the shoreline has started to pull back a bit with the warmer weather.  Lots of water on ice along the shoreline. With this cold snap ice should thicken again—access is decent at the silos boat launch with 18 or so inches as you get out there.  Fishing for trout is decent weather your laying a tip-up or jigging in about 20-35 FOW. Be cautious out there and pay close attention to ice conditions.

Hauser: Black Sandy is fishable with 10-12” of ice right now and guys have been hooking up with Walleye and Perch.  For guys looking for the Perch try fishing out from the campground in about 40-50 FOW.  If you’re after some trout lay lines about 10’ below the ice.  We’d recommend some blue Swedish Pimples or a red slender spoon tipped with night crawlers or a maggot about 10’ and chasing it up.  The ice is thinner near open water so steer clear and be careful.
