Seeley Lake waters are open again to boating and other recreation, effective at noon on Sept. 6. The lake has been under a temporary emergency closure while aircraft used most of the lake to draw water to fight the Rice Ridge Fire. Fire crews may continue to scoop water from portions of the lake, so boaters must be alert for aircraft and stay clear of fire suppression operations. Fire conditions could prompt another closure of the lake, so boaters and others should stay tuned for updates. For up-to-date information on closures and restrictions related to drought and fire, visit fwp.mt.gov/news/restrictions/ or call the FWP office in Missoula at 406-542-5500.
