The deer b tags for a special chronic wasting disease management hunt sold out Tuesday in less than four hours, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Sales were significantly slower than the previous special hunt in south central Montana. The 1000 tags available for that hunt sold out in just minutes. Only 335 mule deer b tags, including 60 either sex tags, were sold on Tuesday.
The hunts were organized after seven deer tested positive for chronic wasting disease this last hunting season. Six of those deer were harvested in the Belfry and Joliet areas. One was taken near Chester.
