Anyone interested in building a community pond and using state grant money have until Feb. 1 to file an application.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has $33,000 in grant funding available as part of its Community Pond Project. The grant requires successful applicants to provide 30 percent of the project’s funding. This can come in the form of labor, heavy equipment time, engineering services and construction materials.

The Community Pond Project started in 2003 as an effort to support young anglers. For more information or a grant application visit the FWP website.
