Prairie grizzly bears and their management by Fish, Wildlife and Parks will be the topic of a May 22 public meeting in Loma.

At the meeting Wesley Sarmento, FWP bear management specialist, will look at how the department manages grizzly bear expansion on the prairie east of the Rocky Mountain Front.

In addition, Sarmento will explain what to do during a bear encounter, how to use bear spray, how to protect harvested game meat, how to safely deter a bear using non-lethal tools, and how to secure attractants and prevent a bear from being drawn into residences.

The 7 p.m., May 22, meeting will be at Ma’s Café in Loma. The meeting will be free and open to the public.
