Recent flooding on the Rocky Mountain Front has led Fish, Wildlife and Parks to announce the emergency closure of the Sun River Wildlife Management Area, west of Augusta.

The WMA’s roads in particular are in poor shape, have washed out in some spots and are a hazard to public safety.

The WMA will remain gated and closed until the area can be cleaned up and is deemed safe for recreation.

For further information regarding the closures, including where the public can submit comments, go to FWP’s website (http://fwp.mt.gov/news/publicNotices/rules/).

Similarly, the Blackleaf Wildlife Management Area on the Front, west of Bynum, has poor road conditions and the public is urged to avoid the area.
