Flows on the lower have barely been adjusted and are now up to 1550 cfs. BWO’s are active daily and fish will be looking for them when it is overcast. If the fish aren’t willing to rise, light nymph rigs including crawdads, sculpins and baetis nymphs should work fine fished at about 4 to 5 feet from the indicator. The Zirdle and Dead Drift Craw have been the best crawfish patterns while lightning bugs and pheasant tails have been our best mayfliy nymphs. San Juan worms and eggs are becoming more effective. Cloudy and cooler this week with some possible precipitation and high temperatures around 45 degrees.

Fins & Feathers is a full-service Bozeman fly shop and Montana fly fishing outfitter. Lower Madison River fly fishing trips are available year-round with their Bozeman fly fishing guides.
