Montana wolf hunters and trappers are still getting em!  Excellent work, as this is not an easy task!  So far, 235 wolves have been harvested in the state, and wolf trapping season is open until February 28th, while wolf hunting closes on March 15th.

Pictured is Jeff Renaker with one of his and his trapping partner’s, combined, seven wolves as of January 4th.  Dan Helterline, the infamous wolf “whisperer” (which really means wolf trapper and hunter), Dan Helterline, awarded Jeff “Student of the Year” after teaching him a thing or two on how to trap wolves last fall.  Here’s what Dan posted on Montana Wolf Hunting and Trapping:

Im awarding Jeff Rennaker “Student of the Year”! Jeff received trapping instruction from me this fall and wasted no time putting it to use. In the short time wolf season has been open Jeff and his partner have harvested 7 wolves, including one double and the wolf Jeff is shown with that pulled the scale down to 118 lbs, a genuine brute! Good work guys!

Nice work, Dan, Jeff and Jeff’s partner!  Way to play a huge part in making Montana’s wildlife population great again!
