The Upper Madison is in it’s prime right now. The upper section like Reynolds Pass, $3 Bridge, Lyons, has been pretty hatchy. Baetis and Midges have had fish feeding on the surface with a little cloud cover and low wind. Emergers, cripples and adults are all important when they get a little picky. Stonefly Nymphs, Baetis Nymphs, San Juan Worms. and small Streamers are working well when nymphing. The sections closer to Ennis are a little more spawny than up high. There are Worms and Eggs have been the closest thing to automatic as it gets. The streamer fishing can be a little better than higher up too. Rainbow Trout colored stuff or olive and white is a pretty good place to start.
