Current Conditions

The river is now on Hoot Owl (No fishing from 2pm to 12am) below Shed’s Bridge in Four Corners. The portion that is still unaffected by restrictions is fishing well. Water has remained clear wven with the recent precipitation. Salmonflies are now well above Big Sky and fish below this have switched to eating caddis and Golden Stones. Look for big fish on big bugs on the top end of back eddies and tucked up against the bank. Also have been seeing a good amount of tan and chocolate caddis. Nymphing with big rubber legs and red copper john below it will produce fish as well. Purple perdigons have been a great option for an effective dropper throughout the river. Fish have been quite willing to rise to attractor dry fly patterns and large Elk Hair Caddis. Pinch barbs, and minimize your time fighting fish along with handling fish to reduce stress and accidental fish kill.
