This might be a good sign that the whitefish bite on Flathead Lake might be a good one this year. Bob Erickson from Charlo sent montanaoutdoor.com this report on Saturday.
” Several spots around Big Arm area. Surprisingly a bit deeper. 52 to 55 feet. Smaller fish. No big ones yet But nice fillets Here is the kicker. Fish always change it up. Out of 25 fish only two caught on the standard green jig all the rest caught on the fly on a dropper 12” above jig
I always use the Berkeley fake maggots. But yesterday the real maggots way out fished the fakes.
Talked to a couple guys who did real well in the old favorite hole. Straight out in front of Big Arm boat ramp 50 feet deep”
Matt from Mo Fisch also reported on the Montana Outdoor Radio Show Saturday that they caught whitefish on the north end of the lake.
