Brett French reports: Lawsuit seeks to allow crossbow use during archery season

Four hunters have filed a lawsuit seeking to require Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks to allow disabled hunters use of crossbows during the archery season. One of the plaintiffs is Brad Molnar, a Republican state senator from Laurel, who sponsored a bill in the last legislative session seeking the same solution. The bill was tabled, but Molnar hasn’t given up. The Fish and Wildlife Commission will take up the issue at its October meeting, but that will be after the bow season has ended. So the plaintiffs were seeking to force FWP to allow them to use crossbows this season. However, the judge in the case didn’t take that route.
