Hunters. Contractors, and truck drivers, along with many others, love eating seeds. There are a wide variety of tasty choices but making Pumpkin Seeds may surprise you.

This is the season for pumpkin seeds. Halloween is over and pumpkins are cheap. Not only can you make pumpkin seeds, but you can also puree pumpkins into a bushel full of other tasty treats. Pumpkin muffins, breads, pies, and soup. All are healthy and delicious.

Pumpkin seeds are way bigger than the smaller sunflower or other tiny seeds. You get more meat to the munch. Spitting the bigger shells gives you added range. Just be careful to not take out someone’s eye.

Here is my favorite and simple Pumpkin Seed recipe.

1 1/2 cups of seeds

2 tsp olive oil (look at the flavored olive oils to mix up the flavors)

Salt

Old Bay Seasoning

Rinse the seeds to remove any stringy Pumpkin Guts

Dry the seeds and lay them onto a paper towel

In a large bowl, toss the seeds with the oil and salt. Now add the other spices to taste

Place the seeds onto a tray lined with foil. Place the seeds in a single layer.

Now, you can;

  • bake the seeds at 300 degrees for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes
  • Place the tray on your smoker grill and do the same

Grill or bake the seeds until golden brown.

Once baked, you can store them in a jar or plastic bag. Carry them afield and enjoy.
