Nelson Reservoir attracted a unique group recently when Warriors & Quiet Waters hosted ice anglers for five days. The Bozeman-based nonprofit started out taking post 9/11 military personnel facing a challenge fly fishing as a means of healing. Six years ago, WQW expanded to ice fishing at Fort Peck, but eventually moved to Nelson and its comfier accommodations at the Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs & Resort. Participants have everything provided, from gear and warm clothing to food and transportation.
