BILLINGS – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks issued a decision notice for the purchase of 115 acres adjacent to Big Lake WMA northwest of Billings, near Molt on Aug. 31.
After considering public comment, FWP recommends approval of the proposed action to acquire the 115‐acre parcel from T Bar J Ranch adjacent to Big Lake WMA.
Big Lake WMA provides a unique prairie wetland habitat for a variety of waterfowl, shorebirds, upland birds, grassland birds, antelope, mule deer, prairie dogs and other native species.
The original Big Lake WMA EA was issued on July 11, and public comment was taken through Aug. 14. Comments were incorporated and addressed in the decision notice.
