Due to cold temperatures, steelhead angler effort on the upper Salmon River was very low during the past week. The cold temperatures resulted in a lot of slush ice in the river, and the Deadwater ice jam is now in place. Anglers were only observed downstream of Panther Creek in location code 15 during the afternoons, and no anglers reported catching a steelhead.
On Sunday, the Salmon River had clear visibility in all areas, and water temperatures were at 32°F. Additionally, the Deadwater ice jam had progressed upstream of the Bobcat Access Site.
