Imagine if the first fish you catch broke a state record…and more!

That is exactly what happened to Dace D’Onofrio while fishing with his dad, Michael, in the Gulf of Mexico.

D’Onofrio scored a Junior State Record, Junior Water Body Record and a First Fish Award with a black grouper that weighed 76.55 pounds and measured 57 inches long, according to a post on social media by Coastal Fisheries – Texas Parks and Wildlife.

What an awesome catch, and congratulations!

How many MORS listeners have or know somebody who has broken records with their first catch?
