More commission amendments proposed for December agenda items

HELENA – Proposed amendments for Dec. 14 Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting agenda items are available for public review and comment online.

Five amendments are being proposed by Region 5 Commissioner Brian Cebull.

Cebull’s first amendment proposes to increase either-sex elk quotas for license permit type (LPT) 700-20 from 200 to 250, and in LPT 700-21 from 660 to 800. Click here to see amendment.

Cebull’s second amendment would expand the quota range on LPT 555-00 from 15-50 to 15-100 and adds LPT 005-00 Elk B License to hunting district (HD) 555. The new LPT would not be valid on national forest lands. Click here to see amendment.

Cebull’s third amendment would modify LPT 502-20 and make it valid only in HD 502 and set the quota at five either-sex tags. This amendment would also create LPT 555-20, which is valid only in HD 555, and set the quota at 25 either-sex tags. Click here to see amendment.

Cebull’s fourth amendment would set a statewide spring black bear hunting season closure for June 15 and expand Region 1 pilot project, which allows hunters to submit extracted teeth instead of having to present a head and carcass, to the entire state. This would also require that each hunter submit two molars instead of one. Click here to see amendment.

Cebull’s fifth amendment would set the black bear season in bear management unit 520 to May 1 to June 15. Click here to see amendment.

Comments on these five amendments can be submitted by Dec. 7 via email to FWComm@mt.gov, or provided during the Dec. 14 commission meeting. To see all topics the commission will consider, click here.

The commission will meet at the Capitol and virtually Dec. 14 at 8:30 a.m. A link to register to comment will be posted on the commission meeting webpage on Dec. 1. A more detailed agenda will be posted on the FWP website prior to the meeting.
