Last weekend was the Great Rockies Show in Billings. This annual event brings out Montanans that want to celebrate our outdoor sports heritage together.

The Kids Trout Ponds were busy, and many youngsters caught their first scrappy rainbow trout. The local Pike Anglers club did a great job managing and helping the kids and their parents enjoy dome family fishing.

The other seminars were interesting. Hunting Monster Halibut certainly got my attention. Elk Calling and Archery hunting are always interesting. Reid Stovall shared many great ideas and sounded off about bow hunting for elk. Africa was calling many hunters.

It was nice to see families coming together for this event. Fathers are so important in helping youngsters learn about the outdoors and get excited about hunting, fishing, camping, and recreation in Big Sky Country. All kids need those male role models.

Many Moms also brought their kids to the show to learn about Birds and have some tasty snacks. They hung on to their kids so they wouldn’t get pulled into the trout ponds. Marching through the RV’s, boats, and wheeled vehicles is always fun.

I especially enjoyed sharing Ice Fishing and Fly Fishing tips, tricks, and stories to those that attended my seminars. Remember that my Facebook Group is called “Montana Fishing For Fun”. Feel free to join and share pictures, info., or ask questions.

Billings is at the heart of Montana. Thank you for coming out!
