MILES CITY – Noting decreased dangers from forest and range fires, Big Horn County Commissioners lifted Stage 1 fire restrictions on Sept. 21 at midnight.
Since Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks follows the counties’ lead on fire restrictions, this means that restrictions are lifted and campfires and smoking in outdoor spaces are again allowed at the following FWP sites (unless otherwise restricted):
-Tongue River Reservoir State Park
-Rosebud Battlefield State Park
-Chief Plenty Coups State Park
-Grant Marsh Wildlife Management Area and Fishing Access Site
-Bighorn FAS
-Arapooish FAS
-General FAS
-Mallard’s FAS
-Two Leggins FAS
FWP urges that recreationists continue to use caution, as fire danger continues.
For a current list of restrictions and closures of FWP site, visit https://fwp.mt.gov/news/current-closures-restrictions.
