Just hit the buzzer, and the Virgelle Ferry will cruise across the Missouri to scoop you and your vehicle up—for free, but you’re riding at your own risk! This 50-foot ferry’s been in action since 1913, and it’s carried over 30,000 rides across using a diesel-powered cable. It’s seasonal, running from mid-April to November, and is a popular starting point for canoeists checking out the scenic river. If you’re in the area, Fort Benton is just 40 minutes southwest, and Virgelle has cozy historic spots to stay and all the river adventure hookups! The ferry is located at 8337 Virgelle Ferry Road North in Virgelle, MT, and you can call 406-378-3110 for more information, as well.
