The following fishing report is by The Missoulian Angler Fly Shop:

Fishing Score: 4/5

Rock Creek fly fishing is really starting to improve the last few days. The Salmonfly hatch has officially begun with adults starting to hatch on the lower end. Warm weather is in the forecast, which means even more big bugs hatching, especially on the lower half of the creek. Water levels are currently rising, but that shouldn’t turn the fishing off too much. The hatch will continue to move upstream.

What Hatches are Going?

Salmonfly along with a few Golden Stones and Yellow Sallies.

What’s the weather like?

The weather has been warm lately and the extended forecast is much of the same.

How’s it going to be in a couple weeks

Probably some of the best fishing of the year. The Salmonfly hatch is what many of us have been waiting for, but the hatches that follow like the Golden Stone, Yellow Sallies and Green Drake can be just as incredible on the creek. It might not be ideal flows for the wade fisherman, though it can still be done and it’s hard to pass up the chance at seeing the Salmonfly hatch on Rock Creek.
