Colorado’s newly reintroduced wolves are settling in with four packs now officially denning and raising pups in the northwest part of the state. They even have names: One Ear, King Mountain, Three Creeks, and the Copper Creek Pack, with the Copper Creek Pack already making headlines for livestock run-ins and relocation drama. It’s a pretty big deal for Colorado, and one that Montanans might watch with a raised eyebrow. If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that managing wolves is as much about politics and patience as it is about conservation. Wolves bring headlines and hard conversations wherever they go–especially when livestock, ranchers, and state agencies all get involved.
