HELENA – Nonresident hunters who signed up for the Alternate List can now check their position on the list at MyFWP.
The Alternate List gives nonresident hunters a second chance to get a combination license (big game, general elk or general deer) after the main drawing. These licenses become available when other hunters return them, often due to medical issues or refund requests.
Here’s how it works:
- After the sign-up period closed on June 30, the list was randomized today.
- Each customer on the list was assigned a random number.
- As returned licenses become available, hunters at the top of the randomized list will be contacted first to finalize the purchase of the license, and so on until the returned nonresident combo licenses are filled.
- You will have five days to finalize your purchase. If you don’t finalize within the time period, the license will go to the next in line.
- Hunters will be notified by email, so ensure your email address in MyFWP is current.
Returned licenses can come in at any time between now and Dec. 1, the final date for refunds. Because of this, the number of licenses available and your chances of receiving one can vary from year to year. To check your number or update your contact information, visit MyFWP.
