“Just one more cast and then we can leave!” We have all said this, but the last cast gets a bump or a strike. Maybe the cast wasn’t perfect, so you need a makeover. No matter what you say, there is rarely One More Cast. It is always several more…
One more cast is a symbol of Hope! This is a perfect metaphor in life. No one knows what could happen with just that one more cast. If you do not take that one more cast, what did you miss? Missing out on that One More Cast is unrealistic.
Taking kids fishing is always on the clock. Their limited attention span determines how long to fish. My grandson CC makes the choices. I ask him every 30 minutes if he wants to fish some more or not. When he gets to say, we tend to stay longer. He does love his fishing, and we often have great success.
Years of guiding have taught me that clients would rather quit fishing so they can go to dinner, the bar, or are just worn out. They often give up fishing when the hatch or bite is just turning on. Some clients just get tired and give up. If they are not catching fish fast enough they also give up more quickly.
Hunters are limited to defined deadlines measured by sunset and sunrise. When the clock ticks down, the weapons are unloaded, and the hunt is over for the day.
You know what you are going to catch if you stop fishing. That One More Cast could change the dynamics of the whole day. It’s funny how a few minutes of catching a fish can erase hours of no action.
Fishing is fun! The joy and therapy of fishing means that one more cast is just fine.
Just one more cast and then we can leave. Oh, I think I had a bite…
