The following report is from the Missoulian Angler Fly Shop:
Hoot owl restrictions (fishing prohibited 2:00 p.m. to midnight) are in effect for upper Rock Creek – from the confluence of the West and Middle Forks to the mouth of Stoney Creek starting July 11.
Rock Creek fly fishing has been good over the last week during the morning hours, but tapers off in the afternoon as the weather heats up. Cooler temps are on the way next week which should help improve fishing conditions throughout the day with some rain and cooler weather on tap. We are seeing great number of Spruce Moths and plenty of fish are eating them. Dry fly fishing remains good and we are looking forward to the weather next week as this should help the dry fly fishing.

How’s it going to be in a couple weeks
The fishing has been good and it doesn’t look like we are going to see extreme temperatures over the next week. It’s important to keep water temps in mind going forward as the afternoons can be tough on the fish if the water gets too warm. We’ve been lucky with some cooler days and evenings lately, but keep an eye on the weather.
