After a few slow days on Fort Peck, the salmon finally decided to cooperate Thursday. Scott Collinsworth took Collin Griffith, his son Braxton, and buddy Mike Erickson out for a day on the water, and while the morning started slow with just one 14-pound salmon for Braxton by noon, the afternoon brought a flurry of action. By the end of the day, the crew landed five more, including a 14, 17, 18, 19, and 20-pounder, making for one awesome outing.
Black Jaw flies, Gold Dollar, and Blue Ghost patterns were the big winners, and anglers found the best action east of York, with Duck Creek also producing solid catches. Trolling 60–80 feet down in 160 feet of water at around 2.2 mph was the sweet spot. After a slow bite earlier in the week, it looks like Fort Peck is back on track for some serious salmon action!
Nice work, guys!
