It’s been a grind on Fort Peck lately, but Captain and crew still managed to turn a slow bite into some heavyweight battles. Joined by Ken Ault and Gary Rueb — better known as the Black Jaw Fly Guy — the rods didn’t fire often, but when they did, the salmon on the other end were no joke. Every hookup came with big bodies and a fight.
The fish are running deep right now, hanging 80–100 feet down. One brute came on a spoon 200 feet back and 100 down with no flasher, another smacked a dipsy diver 195 feet back on a blue jack Brad’s cut bait, and the last one couldn’t resist the Black Jaw Gold Dollar fly at 92 feet on the downrigger. All three were males, tipping the scales between 19 and 21 pounds — proof that even when the grind is real, Fort Peck can still deliver!
