Flow Data: Gallatin River near Gallatin Gateway, MT
The warm weather continues here in Bozeman for the next week or so. Possibly the last opportunity to find fish that are willing to eat terrestrials. Hoppers or attractor dry flies will still be the best bet on the surface. We are getting to the time of the year when you can try skating an October Caddis. This can be a fun method to find some particularly large fish. Fishing a large foamy terrestrial dry with a perdigon or midge pupa dropper remains a great way to catch fish on the Gallatin. Overall the surface action is likely going to be a bit slow until the fall beatis start hatching in numbers. Likely a few weeks. Streamers have been good on cloudy days. A bit slower when the sun is high. If you do try a streamer, small and natural seems to work best. Make the most of the good weather as summer starts to wind down.
