A tragic reminder out of Tuluksak, Alaska shows how quickly an argument can turn irreversible. Alaska State Troopers say 54-year-old Nelson Hawk was found dead Sunday morning on a trail near the village with a gunshot wound, and investigators allege the shooting stemmed from an argument at a local fish camp.

A 42-year-old Tuluksak man has since been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, along with additional assault and evidence tampering charges. Hawk’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, and his family has been notified.

The lesson is simple but powerful: anger is temporary — consequences are permanent.

A heated argument can escalate in seconds, but the outcome can affect families, communities, and lives forever. No disagreement, pride, or moment of rage is worth taking a life or facing the lifelong legal, emotional, and moral consequences that follow.

It’s a reminder of the importance of walking away, cooling down, and choosing restraint — because once a line is crossed, there’s no undoing it.
