Bighorn sheep hunters, HD 300 is about to flip the “closed” sign: by order of the Montana Fish & Wildlife Commission, Hunting District 300 will close to all bighorn sheep hunting one-half hour after sunset on Thursday, September 3, 2026. In other words, once that evening cutoff arrives, the sheep get the district back and the hunting season there is officially finished. The closure applies to the district as defined in the current legal descriptions, so hunters should make sure they’re clear on the boundaries and timing before heading out. For current bighorn sheep regulations and hunting information, check the Montana FWP Bighorn Sheep Hunting Guide.
