Jay Cutler’s recent South African hunt sparked outrage online….but before you join the mob, make sure you have your facts straight. According to OutdoorLife, ritics blasted the former NFL quarterback for killing a “critically endangered” animal, but here’s the catch–it wasn’t. The sable he hunted is a common species, not the rare giant sable found only in Angola (which is a whole different country and species). Still, the internet fired away (as it does), fueled more by emotion than information. Like it or not, hunts like this actually fund conservation efforts across Africa. So if you don’t agree with something, that’s totally fair, but at least know what you’re talking before letting your emotional outburst go hog wild.
