A Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks hunter education field day for online students has been set for Conrad. The course will be held at the Pondera Shooting Sports Club from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 9.
This is a likely to be one of the final opportunities for students in the area to become fully certified and ready to hunt before the fall hunting seasons begin.
Consistent with FWP’s licensing laws, students who are currently 11 and who will turn 12 by Jan. 16 of the current license year may take the online course and the required field day. The online course (course fees apply) needs to be completed before signing up for a field day.
During the field day, participants receive instruction, practice, and demonstrate their skills and knowledge in firearms handling and gun safety while hunting. Instructors provide hands-on instruction and present realistic scenarios, then evaluate students on their understanding and competency. All hands-on training is done with a variety of inert firearms.
Students must be pre-registered prior to attending a field day. To find a class and register, or to take the online course, go to fwp.mt.gov/hunt/education/hunter
